Pesto sauce

The famous Italian sauce. One of the most loved sauces mainly for pasta but also for other dishes. The original recipe contains fresh basil, pine nuts, garlic, parmesan cheese and of course extra virgin olive oil. Many variations exist but not as good as the original one. This sauce is made with simple ingredients found in the Mediterranean countries, full of flavors and whenever the sauce is used gives a fantastic taste to your dish.

  • 2 cups of fresh basil
  • 1 cup of extra virgin olive oil
  • 50 gr pine nuts
  • 50 gr grated parmesan (skip for vegetarian/vegan)
  • 2 garlic cloves


Preparing the spices


Put all ingredients in a food processor and process until smooth.

The sauce is ready to serve or use in other dishes. Can be kept for a couple of days in the refrigerator but if so cover it with some more olive oil.

Tips: You can use it as a pasta sauce, on top of grilled bread as a starter, on top of grilled fish, in sandwiches, in salads
